ABB E-mobility to develop and supply MegaWatt fast charging infrastructure for the all-electric 7-Seater Lilium Jet

ABB E-mobility and Lilium N.V. positioned to be a global leader in regional electric air mobility, have announced plans for ABB to provide the charging infrastructure for Lilium’s high speed regional air network, scheduled for commercial launch in 2024. Lilium has announced planned launch networks in Florida, Germany, and Brazil. As part of the agreement, ABB will develop, test and supply the MegaWatt fast charging infrastructure necessary for the quick turnaround times needed for electric aviation. The ABB charging points are designed to be capable of fully charging batteries in approximately 30 minutes, and charging up to 80% in 15 minutes, enabling the 20-25 flights per aircraft per day planned across Lilium’s global vertiport network.

Sweden and Germany are leading the development for electric roads

Germany and Sweden are world leaders when it comes to real-world studies on electric roads. On Gotland, the world's first wireless e-road has been finished.

Electric roads are one of the studied technologies in the race to decarbonise heavy traffic and within a few years the first commercial electric road could be a reality. This will probably happen in Sweden or Germany.

Traffic and transport account for more than a quarter of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, which makes it necessary to phase out fossil fuels. Today, the proportion of electric vehicles is rapidly increasing and  charging networks such as Vattenfall InCharge are being expanded at an ever faster pace.

B2B matchmaking event for Swiss and Estonian companies on 11 November in Zurich, Switzerland

The event is mainly targeted to companies interested in ICT, health-tech, AI, defence and cybersecurity. The event is co-organised by Estonian Ministry of Foreign Aairs, swissICT, and three main digital clusters in Estonia: ICT, Connected Health and Defence.

Why do business with Estonia?

Estonia is known as one of the most digitally advanced societies in the world, with 99% of state services available online and the first country to use blockchain to ensure nation-wide data integrity. As a result, Estonian firms are on the cutting edge of digital innovation.

Skeleton Technologies: a business model that creates a unicorn

With a population of only 1.3 million, Estonia is at the forefront globally in terms of unicorns. One of those promising future unicorns is Skeleton Technologies, which has maximised its business model and niche value, and rapidly accelerated its growth in a competitive market. The company announced a funding round of EUR 41.3 million in November 2020, and another round of EUR 51 million in 2021.

Crossover to Electric Aircraft Well Progressed, Says IDTechEx

Electraflyer has announced that it has passed crossover, meaning it now sells more battery-electric aircraft than polluting ones. Pipistrel sold over 100 battery-electric aircraft last year as they take over from its traditional offerings. Bye Aerospace does not even make conventional aircraft. With its Tesla-style approach, its order book exceeds 720 battery-electric aircraft evenly split between two and four-seaters.

VIDEO: Boston Dynamics taught Atlas robots to parkour

Both Atlas robots have completed the complex obstacle course flawlessly yesterday.

But why parkour?

It is explained in Boston Dynamics´s blog: a robot’s ability to complete a backflip may never prove useful in a commercial setting. But it doesn’t take a great deal of imagination or sector-specific knowledge to see why it would be helpful for Atlas to be able to perform the same range of movements and physical tasks as humans. If robots can eventually respond to their environments with the same level of dexterity as the average adult human, the range of potential applications will be practically limitless.
