Bolt Selects NVIDIA to Power Autonomous Fleets

Bolt has selected NVIDIA Alpamayo Stack full-stack autonomous driving software to power its European robotaxi rollout across at least 25,000 Lucid vehicles.

The deployment will commence in Madrid in 2027, subject to regulatory approval, with Germany and France identified as key target markets for future expansion. The initial phase will deploy Lucid vehicles to gather real-world driving data to validate the autonomous system before broader commercial service begins.

The technology architecture integrates Lucid's software-defined vehicle platform with the NVIDIA Hyperion compute and sensor architecture, running the NVIDIA Alpamayo Stack. Alpamayo Stack combines reasoning artificial intelligence with classical perception and planning, reinforced by NVIDIA Halos safety capabilities that include AI guardrails and system monitoring.

Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions will oversee commercialization, vehicle integration, and fleet management across European urban centers. The initiative represents a core phase of Bolt's broader strategy to operate 100,000 autonomous vehicles across Europe and the wider UNECE region by 2035.

President and Head of Autonomous Driving at Bolt Jevgeni Kabanov noted that following the company's autonomous launch in Luxembourg, Madrid provides a structured framework for commercial autonomous mobility. Kabanov stated that Germany will serve as a subsequent priority, aligning with local municipal autonomous initiatives.

Vice President of Automotive at NVIDIA Rishi Dhall emphasized that robotaxis scale effectively when platforms share a standardized, safety-engineered foundation. Dhall added that NVIDIA Hyperion standardizes the compute and sensor architecture, while Alpamayo Stack and Halos deliver the driving intelligence and validation framework.

President of Lucid Technologies and Chief Digital Officer at Lucid Kay Stepper confirmed that the vehicle architecture supports integration with NVIDIA and Bolt, with data collection launching next year. The partnership forms part of Bolt's multi-partner autonomous portfolio, which also includes collaborations with Pony.ai and Stellantis.
